I am in this business first and foremost because I enjoy working with people.  It is very rewarding to me to help individuals either sell their home or buy their dream house.  Whether it is their primary residence, weekend getaway, first purchase or final purchase, each transaction is unique and I deal with each as such. 

Having over 15 years of experience in the real estate industry, both as a Realtor and an attorney, I have been involved in every aspect of the buying and selling process.  Having represented developers, buyers, sellers and lenders provides me with a thorough understanding of each side of the transaction and all of the elements that make a transaction a win-win situation for all of the individuals involved.  I consider myself a consultant who advises his clients on the (i) current trends of the real estate market; (ii) features of a property that make it appealing to buyers in the market; and (iii) pricing of a property in order for it to be competitive in the then-current market and for the seller's listing or buyer's search to result in a sale that meets the expectations that my clients and I have set.  I also assist developers in coordinating and monitoring their development project(s) from acquisition, financing, construction, and marketing through the closing of the transaction.

    Prior to joining The Jelinek Group and the Coldwell Banker Evanston office, Dan was an attorney at Sidley Austin LLP in downtown Chicago where his legal practice focused on representing investors, developers, lenders, buyers and sellers of both residential and commercial real estate.  Dan's legal practice frequently involved the negotiation, drafting and review of purchase and sale contracts and commercial lease agreements; negotiating, documenting and closing acquisition, development and construction loan transactions; and general corporate work in connection with the real estate aspects of multi-million dollar mergers, acquisitions and corporate reorganizations.  Dan previously represented Equity Office Properties Trust  (the largest publicly traded REIT with over $25 billion dollars in real estate holdings) in its acquisition, disposition and leasing of office buildings prior to it being taken private in 2007.

Personal Background

    Dan is a devoted partner and father of two children:  Maya and Joshua.  He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, cooking, traveling, and the great outdoors.  Prior to moving to the Chicago area, Dan lived in Niagara Falls, New York and managed a federal credit union where he instituted a mortgage lending program and expanded services to meet the needs of the credit union's expanding membership.  Dan is driven to succeed at everything he does and his clients have all benefited from his efforts and successes.
